AIT Web Hosting: A Popular Web Hosting
Solution With Humble Beginnings
AIT was founded in 1996 and had its beginnings in
Clarence Briggs’ garage. He knew then that more and
more people were taking their businesses online.
What that meant was someone was going to have to
support that need. Who was going to do that? This is
when Clarence stepped up to the plate to put a game
plan together. Today, AIT is in an office space with
93,000 square feet with more than 200,000 business
domains worldwide. AIT enables thousands of
entrepreneurs to reach millions of consumers who
spend billions of dollars online every year.
AIT is partnered with many other industry-leading
companies like Apache, Microsoft, ICANN, NetApp,
Time Warner Telecomm, Qwest, Plesk, and PayPal to
name a few. These powerful business links allow AIT
customers to be able to put trust into them and know
that they are not going to pack up and run off
during the night. As their current customers already
know, they are a truly professional Web hosting
business.
AIT offers a series of different packages for their
customers. Set up is free with all packages, which
are all geared for business, rather than personal
use. Under the three headings of Business, Reseller,
and Dedicated, there are a number of options to
choose from. In the business packages, customers can
choose from shared or dedicated servers. While many
of the other options are similar, the differences
seem to come between the disk space available and
data transfers.
Some of the services that appear in all three of the
Business Plans are: migration services, free domain
registration and transfer, DNS management, unlimited
autoresponders, unlimited email forwarding, and
website statistics among others. There are also
three Reseller Plans to choose from as well; two
have shared servers, one has a dedicated server.
They offer variations in multiple domains. The
$29.95 monthly Reseller plan offers 5 mirrors,
subdomains, and virtual hosts. The $59.95 Reseller
package offers unlimited mirrors, subdomains and
virtual hosts. All three Dedicated Plans offer
dedicated servers for customers. These are ideal for
small to medium sized businesses.
Their technical support team is available around the
clock to answer customer questions and resolve web
hosting issues. With the exception of the Dedicated
Plans, all websites are backed up with an excellent
recovery time. The data is backed up at regular
intervals, so if there should be an emergency, AIT
will be able to recover your data.
All plans come with an Anti-Spam Service Pro. The
user tells the anti-spam service what type mail to
block. It then starts looking for certain keywords,
their frequency, and the context in which phrases
are used to filter out unwanted mail. There is no
additional client hardware or software to install.
It also serves as a virus protection program.
AIT also has three fully managed ecommerce hosting
platforms. There’s one for small businesses that
offers 1GB of disk space, 256MB RAM, 60GB data
transfer, SMT control panel, unlimited pop emails,
30 day risk-free trial, free domain registration,
free shopping cart, and free secure server
capabilities. The E-Commerce 2 package is intended
for sites that see high sales. It offers all of what
the first plan offers except: 5GB of disk space and
80GB data transfer. The E-Commerce 3 package has a
dedicated server and offers up the same features as
the other two except: Intel Xeon Processor, 3x or
higher (700mhz), 64 bit or 32 bit, 80GB disk space,
512MB ECC Ram, and unlimited data transfer. The last
feature with the unlimited data transfer would
probably be very attractive to many businesses.
Their ecommerce hosting tools are available with all
three groups of packages and include such features –
and benefits - as a web store (which is open 24
hours a day), merchant account and payment gateway,
is suitable for businesses of any size, reaches a
global market, has an affordable overhead; about $50
a month is what the average business pays, and
expands beyond the reach of a brick-and-mortar
store.
